A rare 17th century bronze statuette of a Peddler. Probably French. Circle of Barthelemy Prieur (1536-1611). The quality is extremely fine. Good, natural, “chocolate” patina. Statuettes of street vendors were a popular subject in the late 16th and early 17th century. Examples by Prieur and Giambologna are known, but this model is apparently undocumented.
