A rare 16th century equestrian bronze depicting the emperor Marcus Aurelius on horseback. Workshop of Severo Di Ravenna (1465-1543). The subject is derived from the ancient Roman example in the Capitoline Museums in Rome. Later mounted on a Verde Antico marble plinth. A remarkably similar example can be found in Sotheby’s ‘The Price Collection’, 22nd November 2000, Lot 54, est £8-12,000.
