A rare William & Mary period black glass onion bottle. Initialled ’E F’ and dated ‘1702’. A unique example and exhibited in ‘Antique Sealed Bottles, 1640-1900’ by David Burton (see image 6). This bottle has a characterful pontil scar and deeply indented seal. Engraved ‘Dr W. Stephens Wayne Newquay’ to the base. In excellent overall condition with a ‘Saturn’ string rim and deep basal ‘kick up’ to the base.
