A rare & unusual 18th century needlework embroidery depicting figures in a landscape with grazing sheep and a church beyond. Signed by an Eliza Lucas to the base reading: “Eliza Lucas Work’d at Mrs Rosco’s Boarding School Royal Crescent Bath in the year 1768”. Miss Lucas could therefore be the figure depicted in the foreground. A fascinating and unique piece of local history. In superb original condition with vivid colours and presented in a later maple veneered and moulded frame.
